The Seventh District

I really love this blog and it is definitely a blog I look up to!
Short post..but every once in awhile a little motivation no Kelly Rowland is needed! So her recent blog entitled: Inspiring Creativity is definitely inspirational! I will not only make a mental note of this post but will also write it down for personal growth!

When the Going Gets Tough

When I think about the "situation" I am going through. I just sit back and think: Some point in life every girl has been where I am at. If they can make it, so can I. I'm not the only one going through it so why should I mope around and play victim. No, because I am a strong, black woman. It's time to live, and no one should stop my happiness. I am the only one who controls my happiness. I declare my happiness, and why might you ask? Because as NeNe from RHOA says: I want my happy back.
That's right..it's all about me.
So..who are you living for?
Love me,
B!

Lemongrass Day Spa

So in efforts to have beautiful skin, I have started a new addiction ritual. I will try to go to the spa once a month. This is so my skin can get the proper care it needs because obviously, I am not doing my job! o.O I don't know! I am just on a quest to better, healthier skin!
I received the Microdermbrasion treatment. In short, this exfoliates my skin to get rid of all the dead skin, dirt, or whatever else needs to be stripped.
Now, I did not go in without doing research on the spa or the treatment. I did research on both so this is like a "healthy" experiment...if that makes sense??? There were great reviews on the spa and I did more research on the procedure than I did the spa.
Microdermbrasion treatments is suppose to reduce the appearance of:
  • hyperpigmentation
  • blending post
  • age spots
  • fine lines
  • laser areas
  • uneven skin tone
  • wrinkles
  • sun damage
  • improving skin texture
  • acne scars
  • enlarged pores
  • scar resurfacing
**Those in bold lettering are my target areas**

Now, you do see results in the first try but it is recommended that you continue going for at least five more treatments. [One of my linesisters said my face did look smoother--but that was after I told her what I did--but I will say my face felt good once I was done]
This cost me $80..which I believe is the average price for this type of treatment.
Now..onto the Spa..
I love it! I would have never known that Valdosta had an uppity side of town, which is where it is located. Once you enter Lemongrass Day Spa, you immediately leave the cares of the world behind you. It is dark inside with soft, relaxing music. The employees are excellent! They carry products that you can buy in order to get maximum results. There is a waiting area like no other! While you are waiting you relax in a nice, big comfy seat that is located in the back-- As to get you ready for your wonderful facial, massage, treatment, shower, or whatever else your heart desires! I will give it a 4/5, only because the type of treatment I received was not a standard spa visit. Meaning, I didn't go in for a regular facial or massage.
I will be going back though! No doubt about it! There website is a little outdated, however. I say that because they moved from one location to another..so there website information is not correct as far as their location and pictures of the outside/inside.

Dating Myself

I have been thinking about enjoying myself lately. And as it so vividly states in my blog over and over and over again..I am an advocate of loving yourself [myself]. So I am always looking for new ways to fall in love with myself and be happy without anyone's approval. [If that makes sense.] So I have come up with this wonderful idea of dating myself! Learning about what I like to do, where I like to go, what I enjoy. True, I am 21 years old and you would think everything there is to know about myself I should already know. But what's the use of living if you do not improve and try to grow? Rather it is spiritually, physically, mentally, etc...
So...my bright idea!
I decided that every weekend [or every other weekend], I will get away from all the hustle and bustle in life, slow down, and enjoy MYSELF. Meaning, I will take myself out on dates, rather it is the movies, dinner, stroll downtown, the mall, spa [which I went to Friday! --adored it!! guess I should blog about it, eh?], a weekend get-a-way, or whatever crosses my mind.
I figured, I work hard enough to enjoy a little something something! And I am definitely an introvert! Which means, I love hanging around people, friends, family, or whatever BUT, in order to re-energize, I need my "me time." So I am definitely dating myself!
If I can't date myself, who can? ya know!

B!

Summer Book #2

I went to my new favorite store in Valdosta! : The Parable
The book that I purchased was on my summer list and I decided to go ahead and get it since I am addicted to the store. I bought "How to Be Found by the Man You've Been Looking For" by Michelle McKinney Hammond. So far..so good!
It has little pointers throughout the book so that you will not appear "thirsty" as well as things that a woman can apply to her everyday life. It makes sure you are ready to live and love yourself. Because confidence in a woman is beautiful! ..and men do love a beautiful, confident woman!
Even though I have just began the book, I highly recommend it!

B!

Poetry Night

Every first and third Thursdays, Fruits of the Garden hosts a poetry night. Fruits of the Garden is a winery downtown Valdosta. Black owned and absolutely fabulous! They even have free wine tastings..which means I will be there on a First Friday to taste a few sips of some wine.
I love white wine but I am trying to acquire a taste for red wines.
They also have items for purchasing

Anyway! This is not what the post is about..
I love poetry and a couple of my line sisters are poets themselves. It was great because there was two parts within the night. The first part was "Rated G". The second half was "Rated R," which had cuss words and sexual material in it.
There were a lot of "eye-openers" which is what I love about poetry.
I wish I could explain it to you, but it is one of those things were you have to be there to experience it!
So if you happen to be in Valdosta or the surrounding areas on First and Third Thursdays, come by and experience art. 9pm! :)
Love me, B!

P.S. Their Niagara Wine is the best!!

Finding Me

Every once in awhile I think it is important to sit back and slow down your day. When you are busy, days can get hectic and you forget about the importance of "me". Even if it is 30 minutes, I think some soft music, you, and a room is all that is needed. It helps you feel at peace about your surroundings.
I've enjoyed this 3 hour peacefulness!
Love me,
B!

So good

It just warms my heart to know that so many times we turn our back on God but He's always there with open arms to take us back.
This song brings me to tears every time:

Friend.. There will never be a friend
As dear to me as You.
There will never be another, closer than a brother.

You know all about me, THE GOOD AND THE BAD.
You know when I rise and fall..
You see my beginnings, You there at the end.
And yet You remain, faithful to say I'm Your friend!

Love me,
B!

Satisfaction

I was reading one of my favorite bloggers and how she just felt like there is something else to always want in the world. When is enough enough? Am I ever going to be completely satisfied with what I have? And to that I say:
"Don't let this world trick you into thinking, you need what its got to be happy. Satisfaction comes from something the world cannot provide."

Day One

Today marks the day that I will enjoy leisure reading again! What's first on the list?
One Day My Soul Just Opened Up by Vanzant
Must I say that this book has already caught my attention! And it was the dedication page that did it! Take a look! :
This book is dedicated to Ego,
that part of us that continue to worry,
lives in doubt,
is afraid,
judges other people,
is afraid to trust,
needs proof,
believes only when it is convenient,
fails to follow up,
refuses to practice what it preaches,
needs to be rescued,
wants to be a victim,
beats up on "self,"
needs to be right all of the time, and
continues to hold on to what does not work.
You are now put on a notice that . . .
YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED!

Now if that isn't powerfully! Whoo..!
I won't spoil it for those who wants to read! But I thought that was Blog worthy!
Love me, B!
